Is a Recount Really Necessary?
It is interesting to note that it is not the Democrats that are requesting a recount of the 2016 election results. It is Green Party Candidate Jill Stein who has no chance at all of winning anything.
It is true, however, that many people are upset by the outcome of the election. Trump won Wisconsin by 27,257 votes. He won Pennsylvania by 68,236 votes. And he won Michigan by 11,612 votes. These are popular votes which gave him the electoral votes he needed to win the election.
Jill Stein fared well in those three states. Apparently many believe if she had not run for election her votes may have gone to Hillary Clinton. The truth is if Trump had only won in Pennsylvania he would have won in the end by exactly 270 electoral votes.
Now Hillary Clinton’s camp has decided they will participate in the recount. One must ask why? Is it because she does not have to come up with any money, or is it because she is afraid she is still subject to prosecution on some level if she doesn’t maintain some echelon of power? There is only about a three in a five thousand chance of a reversal in a recount. In this case we are talking about thousands of vote differences.
On the eve of the election, Hillary Clinton told her supporters, “We must accept this result… Donald Trump is going to be our president. We owe him an open mind and the chance to lead.” A few hours later, Obama joined in on her remarks. It is clear to everyone that Neither Clinton, nor Obama’s remarks were genuine. It is clear from the beginning that they have been looking for foreign tampering and found none and now they are looking for a recount. This is the mark of another candidate unable to accept defeat with grace. Hillary Clinton lost the race because she was too flawed and untrustworthy to carry the mantle of President of the United States.
